Ronald Grey Sturdivant

Ronald Grey Sturdivant, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Lexington, North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Winston-Salem with Pastor Mark Hopkins officiating services.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home in Winston-Salem.

Ronald was born on November 17, 1934, in Forsyth County to the late Paul and Frances “Tate” Sturdivant. Mr. Sturdivant will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Sturdivant had a very strong work ethic. He worked 47 years driving a concrete truck for Piedmont Concrete, retiring in 2007. Even after retirement, there weren’t many days that you wouldn’t find him working or “piddling” with something to keep himself busy. Mr. Sturdivant had a love for racing, especially modified racing. He raced at Bowman Gray Stadium in the 1960s. In later years, there wasn’t a Saturday night during racing season that you wouldn’t find him at Bowman Gray Stadium, working the gate and walking around the stadium watching the races. He built many friendships during his 30-plus years working at the race track and would often reminisce on all the people he met over the years. Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Sturdivant; brother, Paul Sturdivant Jr.; and Son-in-Law, Bobby Dudney.

Surviving are his son, David Sturdivant; daughter, Tamara Dudney; three Grandchildren, Andrew Sturdivant, Heather Clodfelter (Joe), and Mackenzie Trantham (Casey); Great-Granddaughter Madison Sturdivant; and baby-to-be, Parker Brooke Trantham.
