Ronald Martin Mendenhall went home to Jesus on September 15, 2022 at age 78.
Ronnie was born to Roscoe and Sarah Mendenhall on October 3, 1943 in High Point, NC. He lived his entire life in Davidson County. He graduated in 1962 from North Davidson High School where he played basketball, baseball, and football. After graduation, Ronnie worked at the Midway Sinclair Filling Station, Stroh’s Brewing Company, and on the family farm. He drove a car hauler for much of his career and retired after more than 20 years. He loved fishing at the beach, playing golf, and farming.
While working at the Midway Sinclair Filling Station, he met Barbara Ann Hyatt. They were married on January 12, 1964. They were married for 54 years and had three children, Shawn Schindler (John) of Garner, NC; Michelle Morton (Christopher) of Garner, NC; Jimmy Mendenhall (Kat) of McLeansville, NC. They have eight grandchildren: Wesley Morton (Corina), Sarah Edwards (Drew), Randy Schindler, Ronnie Morton (Sarah Beth), Justin Schindler, Drew Mendenhall, Matthew Mendenhall, Cooper Mendenhall. They also have 1 great grandchild, Luke Morton.
In addition to being a dedicated friend and loving father, Ronnie was part of the Midway community and a beloved member of Canaan United Methodist Church.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Sarah Mendenhall, and his beloved wife, Barbara Ann. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, brothers David Mendenhall (Sandy) and Bradley Mendenhall (Denise), nieces and nephews.
Services in celebration of Ronnie’s life will take place at Canaan United Methodist Church in Midway on Monday, September 19 th at 11AM. Family will receive friends after the service.
