Ronald (Ronnie) Dermont Nance, 82, gained his eternal reward in the loving arms of Jesus on September 16, 2026, at his home in Lexington. Ronnie was born to the late Garland Nance and Margaret (Paige) Nance on January 7, 1944. He was a faithful member of Journey Church of Lexington. Ronnie loved his Lord dearly, and in his last hours here smiled at the thought of soon meeting Him face to face.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Journey Church, with Rev. Mark Rachels officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Ronnie was a man with a servant's heart, always ready to lend helping hands; hands that could repair or build nearly anything, and he put those hands to work regularly to help family, friends, church, and anyone who had a need. He enjoyed camping, target shooting, and thoroughly enjoyed gunsmith work and ammo reloading. Ronnie was a man who liked to tinker. His work ethic included mechanic work on about anything you can think of, lawn mower sales and service at one point, machinist, welder, logger and sawmill owner/operator, and railroad parts refiner, just to name a few. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers; Bruce Nance and Gene Nance.
Left to cherish his memory are his cherished and loving bride Judy Garner Nance, his wife of 64 years and love of his life for much longer; two sons, Alex Sr. (Karen), and Eric (Melissa); two grandchildren, Alex (A.J.) Nance, Jr., and Bridget (Clayton) Cole, along with two cherished great-grandchildren, William (Liam) and Teller Cole. Also left to cherish him are a nephew and his wife Brian and Amy Nance, loving caregivers throughout his illness, and Tim Nance, all of Lexington, Steve Nance of Phoenix, Arizona, and also a niece, Sharon Nance, also of Phoenix, Kenny Garner (Alicia) of Asheboro, NC, Rodney Garner (Sandra) of Summerfield, NC, Cindy Hayes (Jason) of Franklin, NC, Matt Fine (Carey) of Boulder, CO, along with other great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Lorene Garner and Candace Hobbs (James) and countless friends and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Journey Church, 61 Biesecker Road, Lexington, NC 27292 or New Friendship UCC, *Ramp Fund, 307 Turner Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
