Ronnie William Sewell, age 56 of Regents Center Circle, Lexington passed away Saturday night (October 16, 2010) at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Memorial Graveside service
will be held 2:00 pm Thursday (October 21, 2010) at Salisbury National Cemetery with a Veteran Administration Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow with military honors.
There will be no public visitation.
Ronnie was born in Alamance County, June 3, 1954 to James William Sewell and Virginia Manuel Sewell, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Eastern Alamance High School, and then entered the US Marine Corps where he served as a Private First Class. Ronnie then attended Alamance County Community College and completed the requirements for law enforcement. He served as a police officer for the city of Mebane, then as a deputy for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. After leaving the Orange County Sheriff’s Department he was employed by Lucent Technologies until his retirement.
Ron was an avid historian and military buff, and was involved in several organizations, including the Civil Air Patrol, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Marine Corps League, and a lifetime member of Clan MacDuff Society
Surviving are: one son, Adam Sewell and wife, Mary Hill Sewell, of Lexington; his former wife Gail Coppley Sewell of Lexington.
