Roscoe Evans Weavil Jr. 66 of Beckford Drive, Lexington, passed away Thursday June 24th at his residence after several months of declining health. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. J. Dwight Cartner. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Winston –Salem, N.C. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Roscoe was born in Wake County, N.C. on May 13 1944 to Roscoe Weavil Sr. and Netril Wade Weavil. Before retirement, he was self-employed as a communications technician. He attended First Baptist Church of Welcome and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, baby Joshua, and two step-daughters Pam Smith and Debbie Smith. He is survived by his wife Marilyn of the home; three sons, Jon Weavil and wife Shebria of Lexington, Todd Weavil and wife Angie of Midway, and Mark Weavil and wife Connie of Southmont; two daughters Kim Weavil and fiancée Paul Hairston of Thomasville, and Wendy Walters and husband Brad of Welcome; one brother John Weavil of New Smyrna Beach Florida; one sister Jeanne Haney of Midway and his grandchildren, Chris, Heather, Ryan, Jake, Kaitlin, Jacob, Nicholas, Brooklyn, Tyler, Tristan, and Jaylen. Memorials may be directed to Oak Forest United Methodist Church Building Fund, 11461 Old US Hwy 52, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27107. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.
