TRIBUTE GREENSBORO – Rosemary Bates Pope, 79, resident of Greensboro, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at her home.
She was born May 4, 1945, in Lexington, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Otis Baxter and Frances Berrier Bates. She enjoyed interior design and being outdoors—especially trips to the beach and working in her flower garden. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family, and she will surely be missed.
Surviving is her husband, Joseph Harold Pope of the residence; two sons, Michael and Marty, both of Greensboro; adopted daughter Susan Papalia, of York, SC; two grandchildren, Sterling and Courtney; two great-grandchildren Wyatt and Poppy; her beloved sister Amy Swicegood and two nephews Casey and Chad and his wife and daughter, Hope and Parker, all of Lexington.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers or contributions, please celebrate Rosemary's life by planting trees in her memory, a meaningful tribute that creates a living legacy for generations through cleaner air, cooler temperatures, and a healthier planet. Your gift of memorial trees will help our nation’s forests in need recover from wildfires, drought, disease, and other natural disasters.
