Roy Lee Church Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 9, 1947, in Davidson County, Roy was the beloved husband of Barbara, a devoted family man, and a friend to many. Known for his kind spirit and unwavering dedication to his family and friends, Roy touched countless lives over the years.
Roy retired after 28 years of service with Triangle Construction, where he was known for his hard work and commitment. In addition, he worked part-time for many years with Rex Everhart, further demonstrating his strong work ethic and dedication. He was also a retired member of the Central Fire Department and the Davidson County Rescue Squad, where he served his community with pride and selflessness.
Throughout his life, Roy dedicated himself to his family and friend
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of 55 years his daughters, Ann Beck (John), Terri Gurganious (Kirk), and Robin Strange (Kevin); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his cherished dog, Mango, who brought him much joy and companionship. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his wisdom, warm smile, and generous heart. His legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his mother and father Roy Church Sr and Ruby Church, brothers Franklin, James, Timothy, George, Garland and sister Wanda
He is also survived by a brother Robert and sisters Debbie, Ida and Sherry
At Roy’s request, there will be no services. In his honor, the family asks that donations be made to the Hinkle Hospice House to support the compassionate care that Roy received in his final days.
