Roy Jasper Griffin, Jr., 78 of LibertyWood Nursing Home, formerly of Riverside Dr., Lexington, died Sunday January 15, 2006 at 7:27 pm at the nursing home in Thomasville.
Mr. Griffin was born in Guilford County on December 10, 1927 to Roy Jasper Griffin, Sr. and Ethel Agner Griffin. He retired from Hanes Corporation and served in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Grayson Griffin and sisters, Irene Maddox and Shirley Creason.
Surviving are his wife, Erma Portis Griffin of the home, two daughters, Doris Dellinger and husband Scott of Midway and Mitzi Griffin of Greensboro. Four grandchildren, Shannon Wall and husband Danny of Danbury; Tracy Dellinger of Lexington; Brandy Warren and husband Zac of Midway and Brittney Dellinger of Midway, two great grandchildren, Kenneth Dellinger and Hunter Warren, one brother Henry Griffin and wife Peggy of Pinnacle and a sister Juanita Blankenship of King.
The funeral will be 3:00 PM Wednesday at Jersey Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Collier officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, Lexington and at other times at the home of his daughter, 140 Brentwood Drive. Midway.
