Roy William Owen

Roy William Owen, age 75 a retired Lieutenant with Lexington Police Department and resident of Pope Road, died suddenly Sunday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2007, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel by the Rev. Don Leonard. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park with Police Honor Guard. Mr. Owen was born in Davidson County on October 24, 1931, to John William Owen and Francis Cross Owen. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His daily activity included his friends at Amvets Post 13. He was also a member American Legion 8, VFW Post 3074 and DAV Chapter 39. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Owen and his wife, Joretta Michael Owen who died in 1992. Surviving are a son, Michael Roy Owen and wife, Rita, of Lexington; granddaughter, Jessi Nicole Clapp and husband, Darnel, of Lexington; and a very special friend Rita Harper of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Concern of Police Survivors (COPS) P.O.
