Roy Dale Swing, Sr., age 72 of Bowers Rd., Lexington, died Friday, July 17, 2009 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, July 19 at New Friendship United Church of Christ with Rev. Sarah Snell officiating.
Mr. Swing was born February 7, 1937 in Davidson County to Shuford Swing and Daisy Everhart Swing. For many years, he was the owner and operator of the Court House BP Service Station and a member of New Friendship United Church of Christ. He served in the National Guard, and was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge and Amvets Post 13. His father preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Glenn Swing of the home; a son, Dale Swing and wife, Jane, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a daughter, Nicole Swing Monroe and husband, Doug, of Archdale; his mother, Daisy Swing of Lexington; his grandchildren, Cole Monroe, Maggie Monroe, and Emma Monroe; his brothers, Tommy Swing and wife, Linda, and Benny Swing, all of Lexington.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
