Ruby Phelps Campbell

Ruby A. Campbell, 78 of Tori Lane in Welcome, passed away Sunday June 2, 2024 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington.

The family will greet friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, on Thursday, June 6, from 6:00-8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 7 with Pastor Mike Burchette and Pastor John Powell with burial following at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Campbell found great pleasure in gardening, shopping, dining out, savoring a cold Mt Dew, and spending cherished moments with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Ray Phelps, and Avery Phelps, her sister, Barbara Phelps, her beloved husband, James L. Campbell and her first husband Jacob Leevon Powell.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jacob “Bud” Leevan Powell Jr. (Debbie) of Danville Virginia, William (John) Leevon Powell (Lynne) of Mocksville, Corky Eugene Powell (Sam) of Lexington, Herman Grant Powell (Carrie) of Welcome, and James Robert Powell (Catherine) of Cleveland, NC, a brother William Phelps, her sister, Alice Phelps Roten, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
