Ruby Potts Church, age 89 of East 9th Street, Ext., went to be with her heavenly Father, Friday morning, December 28, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel, with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from Noon until 2:00 pm Tuesday other times at the home of a daughter, Debbie Gilley, 145 Curtis Drive, Lexington.
Ruby was born in Davidson County, October 20, 1923 to Turner Webster Potts and Ida Freeman Potts. She was a homemaker and a member of Heavenly Sunlight Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Church, Sr. in 1990; sisters, Lecy Thomason and Lexxie Potts; brothers, Herbert, Paul and Thurman Potts.
She is survived by; daughters, Sherry Rolph, Wanda Johnson Costner, Debbie Gilley, Ida Purdue, Ruby Jane Johnson and Jennifer Johnson all of Lexington; sons, Ray Church, Frank Church, Roy Lee Church, Jr., Robert Church, George Church, James Church and Tim Church all of Lexington; 34 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
