Ruby Jean Moseley

April 22, 1929 — September 6, 2015

Ruby Jean Sowers Moseley, 86, passed away Sunday, September 6 at Lexington Health Care after a valiant battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, September 7 at Beulah United Church of Christ by the Pastor Trudy Irving. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Monday prior to the service. Mrs. Moseley was born in Davidson County, the daughter of Conard Ray Sowers and Precious Lila Jenkins Sowers. She retired from the City of Winston Salem. She was a member of Beulah United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School and held various other roles, but her favorite was visiting shut-ins on a weekly basis taking along her homemade goodies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bradford Moseley in 1982, her sister, Doris Sowers Davis in 2011; her brother in law, Joe Davis in 2013; and her very special friend, Wayne Lanier in 2012. Jean is survived by her daughter, Karen Bouldin and husband, Bobby, of Raleigh, NC; her son, Douglas Moseley and wife, Laura, of Lexington; her granddaughter, Crystal Barnes and husband, Doug, and their two children, Sadie and Bentley; her grandson, Jessie Kobos; her brothers; Marion Sowers and wife, Annie, and Tommy Sowers and wife, Rosemary; and his sister, Peggy Darr and husband, Carey. She also has many special nieces, nephews and their families as well as her former son-in-law, Dale Bouldin. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Lexington Health Care for their loving care and dedication during the last few months and also the wonderful care provided by the staff at Hospice. The love and support to the family meant more than words can express from both Lexington Health Care and Hospice. Jean will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and most importantly the love she had for Jesus Christ. She was a great cook and always had something to offer when family or friends stopped by. Before declining health, she enjoyed bus trips with Christian Tours; spending time at the beach playing putt-putt; playing dominos but most of all spending time with her family. Jean will be greatly missed by everyone blessed to have known her and her beautiful smile will never be forgotten. She will always be in our hearts. Memorials may be made to Beulah United Church of Christ, 2828 Arnold Road, Lexington NC 27295 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
