Ruby Parks

Ruby Mefford Parks, 86, of Jack Young Road, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at 9 a.m. at Lexington Memorial Hospital after an illness of eight months. Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel by the Rev. John Mocko. Mrs. Parks was born in Oldham County, Ky., on Dec. 18, 1923, to John Minish Mefford and Mary Carpenter Mefford. She was a homemaker and of the Lutheran faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roy Parks Jr.; son, Robert Roy "Bobby" Parks III; and a grandson, Gary Lee Craig. Surviving are two sons, Scott Parks and his wife, Donna, and Bill Parks and his wife, Kay, all of Lexington; a daughter, Barbara Craig of King George, Va.; five grandchildren, Lee Parks, Jenni Isaacs, Stephanie Parks and Drew Parks, all of Lexington, and John Keith Craig of Chesapeake, Va.; seven great-grandchildren, Austin Parks, Aiden Parks, Jacob Isaacs and Noah Isaacs, all of Lexington, Kevin Craig and Austin Craig, both of Chesapeake, Va., and Gary Lee Craig Jr., of Virginia; two stepgrandchildren, Marissa Freeman and Holly Bellini, both of Lexington; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Saylor Freeman and Isabella Bellini, both of Lexington; and two sisters, Shelby Richards of LaGrange, Ky., and Virgie Bickett of Louisville, Ky. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home on Jack Young Road.
