Ruby was born on June 25, 1940, in Davidson County, to the late Arvil Cletus Shoaf and Myrtle Cope Shoaf. She worked for Duracell until her retirement and was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church.
She found great pleasure in the simple things in life and enjoyed the sweet sounds of birdsong while watching the birds at their feeders in her backyard. Keeping her house clean and decorated, especially at Christmas brought her happiness, and having the glow of Christmas lights brought warmth throughout the home.
But her most prized joy was her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her grandchildren were the sparkle in her eye. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them, and spending time together was the best way to spend a meal, a holiday, or any moment they had.
Along with her parents, she is reunited in death with her beloved husband, Mervin Benford Rowe; brother, Donald Shoaf; and sister, Hilda Wilson.
Left to carry on her love are her children, Gregory A. Rowe (Aimee), and Melissa Rowe Johnson (Chris); brother, Richard Shoaf (Diane); and grandchildren, Foster Johnson, and Graylyn Johnson.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, to make a donation in Ruby’s name to The Davidson County Animal Alliance, Donate Here or to Cancer Services of Davidson County, Donate Here.
