Ruby Michael Shoaf, 96, of Michael Road, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, following an illness of 29 days.
The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Psalm 91 Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Max Shoaf officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Shoaf was born May 31, 1912, in Davidson County, to Calvin Luther “Bob” Michael and Druzilla Swicegood Michael. She was retired from Tyro Jr. High School Cafeteria. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey L. Shoaf; a son, Bennie Lee Shoaf; brothers, Harley Michael, Grady Michael, Clarence Luther Michael, James Archie Michael, Robert Edwin Michael, and Howard McCoy Michael; sisters, Ora Wilson, Lura Kennerly, Juanita Walser, Kathleen Michael, and Wilhelmina Whicker; granddaughter, Kimelee Miller; great-grandchildren, Kali Kristen Miller and Bradley Neal Carlile; great-great-grandson, Landin Bradley Toney; and son-in-law, Jerome Miller.
Surviving are a son, Max D. Shoaf and wife, Letha, of Lexington; daughter, JoAnn Shoaf Miller of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl; eight grandchildren, Michael Miller and wife, Gay, Zachary Miller and wife, Kim, all of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl., Margaret Hudson and husband, Jeff, of Winchester, Va., Susan Carlile and husband, Pat, Darrell Shoaf, Lee Yarboro and husband, Tim, Gina Adams and husband, Bo, and Bridgette Shoaf, all of Lexington; 19 great-grandchildren, James Pyle, Steven Miller, Michael Hudson, Jessica Hudson, Zachary Miller, Olivia Miller, Dru Carlile Toney, Zeke Carlile, Kenan Yarboro, Torin Yarboro, Moriah Yarboro, Talitha Shoaf, Jillian Shoaf, Max Shoaf III, Michaela Shoaf, Cassidy Shoaf, Clay Temple, Jake Adams and Ruby Adams; and a great-great-grandchild, Rayleigh Carter.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
