Ruby Mae Bowers Smith age 93, of Lexington Health Care formerly of Billy Smith Road, Lexington passed away Wednesday, (December 22, 2010). Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm
Friday (December 24, 2010) at Second Reformed United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Joe D. Coltrane officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 12:00 Friday in the church parlor prior to the service.
Ruby was born in Davidson County, December 3, 1917 to Luther Allen Bowers and Lollie Lee Smith Bowers. She was a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Smith, June 3, 1996; four sisters, Alene Crotts, Wilma Crotts, Elaine Hedrick and Dot Hanes; five brothers, Bobby, Cliff, Foy, Banks and Homer Bowers; one step-sister, Geneva Everhart and one step-brother, Early “June” Swing.
Surviving are: two daughters, Linda Younts and husband Lohr, Shirley Goodrum and husband Marlet all of Lexington; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Biesecker; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
