Ruby May Young Parks

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ruby May Young Parks, who peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, at the age of 104. Ruby was born on a crisp Tuesday morning, February 8th, 1921, bringing light and joy to her parents Joe Young and Ida May Young. She grew up surrounded by love and upbringing that instilled in her strength, kindness, and resilience.

Ruby dedicated a significant part of her life to her career in packaging at Duracell Battery, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and commendable work ethic. Throughout her tenure, she built not just batteries, but friendships and a legacy of diligence that inspired many of her colleagues.

Ruby was the devoted wife of the late Weldon Gilbert Parks, with whom she shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they cultivated a family filled with love and laughter.
She was also preceded in death by her dear father, Joe Young, her loving mother, Ida May Young, brothers; Cletus, Barney, Carl, Dolan and Paul.

Surviving are her son, Steve Parks (Glenda), daughter Jeanne McCarn (Kent), six grandchildren: Travis McCarn (Tanya), Josh McCarn (Whitney), Jill Shoaf (Brad), Candace Bills (Dustin), Lauren Bates, Michael Parks (Emily), and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Ruby's life was a testament to the strength of spirit and the enduring power of love. Her legacy will continue through the countless lives she touched during her remarkable journey. When she was asked how she lived such a long & meaningful life, she always replied, "The LORD has blessed me!". At her passing, she shared the birthday milestone of 104 years with one of her uncles, Mr. Ed Young.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Ruby's life, 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 10:00 am till 11:00 am prior to service. As we say goodbye, we hold onto her teachings of kindness, dedication, and love, ensuring that her spirit remains with us always.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Ruby's memory, Davidson Medical Ministries, Pastors Pantry, American Children's Home, or a charity of their choice..
