Ruby Wilson Zelnak, 90, of Idlewild Drive, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2010, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, where she was a member, with Father Al Gondek officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Zelnak was born March 28, 1920, in Guilford County, to Jesse Franklin Wilson and Lillie Mae Martin Wilson. She was a graduate of Fresno State College, Fresno, Calif. She was retired accountant with WLBW TV. Mrs. Zelnak was very active with Davidson County Senior Citizen, enjoying line dancing and she set new record in state competition for senior powerlifting. At her church she was an usher, Eucharistic minister and a member of the ladies guild and bazaar group. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Peter Zelnak Sr., who died in 2001; sisters, Estelle and Jessie.
Surviving are stepson, Stephen Peter Zelnak Jr. and wife, Judy, of Raleigh; stepdaughters, Charlotte Zelnak Howells of West Lafayette, In., and Charlene Zelnak Crowley of Pinellas, Fl; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Carter of Winston-Salem; nieces, Betty Jo Smith of Kernersville and Reba Ellis of Winston-Salem; and special friends and caregivers, Mrs. Ralph (Alice) Schwartz and Mrs. Robert (Lillie) Lockwood.
