Russell Stokes Day, 51, of Mount Carmel Road, died Sunday April 7, 2013 at his home after an illness of 2 weeks.
A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday April 10, 2013, at Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with graveside rites by the Davidson County Firemen’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Russell was born in Burke County on October 26, 1961, to Stokes Love Day and Lula Raxter Day. He was employed with Quality Oil Company in Winston Salem and a member of Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the Reeds Volunteer Fire Department with 14 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Rhonda Roberson Day of the home; son Eric Barker and wife Kerri of Lexington; two grandchildren, Heidi and Rileigh Barker; brothers, Lynn Day and wife Debbie of Lexington and Jeffrey Day and wife Renee of Thomasville; sisters, Sheila Ramsey and husband Steve of Rutherford College, Peggie Gaines and husband Roger of Goldston, Sharon Day of New Mexico, Judy Day and Lisa Sechrest and husband Donnie all of Lexington.
