Ruth Thomason Cecil

Ruth Thomason Cecil, 92 of Carolina House formerly of Cecil Road, Welcome, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Center United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Pillsbury officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home on Cecil Road, Welcome Mrs. Cecil was born May 8, 1919 in Davidson County, to Lewis T. Thomason and Lilly Emma Mae Leonard Thomason. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Cecil who died December 2, 2002; her son Joe Ray Cecil who died July 5, 1956; granddaughter, Jodie Miller Helms who died December 7, 2007; twin brother; Roy Thomason ; Arvil Thomason, Charlie Hinkle, Raymond Thomason, John Thomason, Stamey Thomason and Hollis Thomason; also her three sisters, Dora James, Etta Byerly, and Susie Bates. Surviving are her two sons, Clinton E. (Pean) Cecil and wife, Betty and Jerry W. (Doc) Cecil and wife, Phyllis both of Welcome; Three daughters, Brenda C. Miller and husband, Jerry W., Judy C. Johnson and husband, J.C., and Rita C. Wood and husband Van all of Welcome; brother-in-law Artis Cecil and wife Betty. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Tina Tucker and husband, Darren, Belinda Cecil, Mandy Sunderland and husband Bill, Kathy Tollie and husband Tony, Joey Johnson, Susan Berrier, Angela Albani and husband Gary, Melissa Myers and husband Mike, and Darren Wood; great grandchildren, Justin Tucker, Drew Torbush,Emily Helms, Maggie Helms, Brittany Berrier, Ally Berrier, Kayla Wood, Payton Wood, Fallon Stewart, and Bethany Ruth Myers; two great- great- grandchildren Logan Koonts, and Rylan Torbush; and special family member, David Helms.
