Ruth Mccrary Dietz

Ruth McCrary Deitz, 82, formerly of Ridge Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Alston Brook in Lexington after several years of declining health. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethesda United Methodist Church by the Rev. Doug Hochmuth. The family will receive friends at Bethesda United Methodist Church on Saturday from 1:30 until 3 p.m. and at other times at the home of her sister, Nancy McCrary of The Regents Center Apartments in Lexington. Mrs. Deitz was born March 2, 1926, in Davidson County (Midway) to Joseph Franklin and Mentie Lou Kinney McCrary. She retired from Hanes Corp. in Winston-Salem and was a lifetime member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Vance "Bill" Deitz and her dear sisters, Iris "Spud" Jessup, Frances Townsend and Peggy Freedle. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Deitz Gillespie, her favorite son-in-law, Mark, and granddaughter Christina, of Centreville, Va., as well as her two sisters, Nancy and Betty McCrary of Lexington.
