Ruth Madre Smith Funk, 82, of Hunters Way, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Fries, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughters.
Mrs. Funk was born April 20, 1930, in Norfolk, Va., to Charles Franklin Smith and Lola Mae McNeal Smith. She was retired restaurant operator of Kettle Pancake House and had also worked at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Funk was a member of Becks Reformed Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Talmadge Funk who died August 29, 1997; daughter, Brenda Jean Funk Ellis; grandson, Bobby Eugene Allred; and brothers, Marvin F. Smith and Charles F. Smith Jr.
Surviving are daughters, Cathy F. Wilkerson (Ed) of Lexington and Sandra F. Raynor (Jeff) of Linwood; grandchildren, Craig Raynor, Corey Raynor (Leah), Louanne Laws, and Amy Massey; eight great-grandchildren, Emma Raynor, Salem Raynor, Erin Laws, Marisa Laws, Bryan Massey, Shannon Massey; and sisters, Lois Arlene Harris of Chesapeake, Va., and Myrtle Louise Smeraldo of Kinston.
