Ruth Sealey Gardner, 95, of Lexington, NC passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024. She was born in Robeson County, NC on August 25, 1928 to Clarence and Ethel McLellan Sealey. She graduated from East Carolina University (East Carolina Teachers College back then). She retired from teaching in both Georgia and North Carolina. Until she was no longer able to do so, she loved her gardening and her painting. She had a smile you will always remember. She loved her family and she loved her God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Gardner, Sr.; parents, Clarence and Ethel Sealey; two brothers, Richard Sealey and Paul Sealey; and two sisters Pattie Bullock and Hilda Leggett.
Mrs. Gardner is survived by her son Maynard Gardner, Jr.(Mary Ann) of Amelia Island, Fl; her daughter Corky Clodfelter(Eddie) of Lexington, NC; her sister Gladys Britt of Southern Pines, NC; her grandchildren Shanna Addison (Derik), Jordan Hightower (Mo), Kayce Watson (Zach) and Kyle Clodfelter (Kayla); her great-grandchildren Evan Bryington, Brody Bryington, Charlie Ann Gardner, Masyn Watson, Karsen Clodfelter, MadyAnne Watson, Kali Clodfelter, Owen Addison, Mckinnyn Watson, Kallan Clodfelter, Charley Anne Watson (due 6/28/2024) and many loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside Celebration of Life lead by Pastor Jeff Sypole will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Wilson, NC on Saturday May 11, 2024, at 12:00 noon where she will be laid to rest beside the love of her life. The family will be available for visitation immediately following the celebration.
An extra special thank you to the wonderful staff (lovingly referred to as “blue angels”) at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living in Clemmons and all the angels that helped care for Mrs. Gardner with such compassion.
