Grace Ruth Hale, age 83 of Old Salisbury Road, Lexington passed away Monday at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston Salem.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2015 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday night.
Ruth was born in Cartersville, Georgia December 18, 1931 to Howard and Gracie Mae Bagley Poole. Ruth was a retired employee of Duracell and a member of Rolling Heights Baptist Church. Ruth was an avid gardener and her garden continually increased in size and produce. She expressed her concern for the needy through donating from her food closet as well as clothing and handmade items. She loved Jesus, enjoyed collecting antiques and appreciated visits from family and friends. She was a Writer’s Guild first place award winner and wrote many short stories. She was preceded in death by her parents;husband, Jesse "Jack" Hale; son, Freddy Hale; sisters, Bett, Louise and Alla Mae; brothers, Carl, Cleveland, Leander, Johnny and Pete.
Ruth is survived by her son, Jesse J. Hale (Faye Merrideth Hale) of Lexington; grandchildren, Eric Hale (Jo), Mickey Hale, Kevin Hale (Kelly), Robbie Hale, Amber Brown and Chrissy Hale; great-grandchildren, Chase, Ashley, Jacob, Joshua, Zoe and Nymeria.
