Ruth Herring Hopkins

Ruth Herring Hopkins, age 89, of Robert Beck Road, Lexington passed away at her home Sunday morning.   Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.   The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday night.   Ruth was born in Wayne County, NC to James Blount Herring and Lillian Georgia Bartlett Herring. She was a former employee of Duracell and a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delbert U. Hopkins in 1974; her daughter, Georgia Elaine Hopkins and her five brothers.   Surviving are, her daughter, Anna Marie Pope of Lexington; her sons, William (Bill) Delbert (Julia) of Lexington and James (J.T.) Thornton (Dru) of Clemmons; four-grandchildren; Kyle Wilson (Angela), Jerry Hopkins (Sarah) David Hopkins (Joy) Jackie Rapier (Ron); four great-grandchildren; Jillian Wilson, Sydney Hopkins, Zoe Hopkins and Ashley Barnette (Magnum) one great-great-grandchild, Bella Barnette.   In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292 or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.   Online Condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
