Ruth Woodle Link, 88, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 8, 2016 at her home in Denton.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 11, 2016 at Victory Baptist Church, Hwy 47, Lexington where she was a member, by the Rev. Jeff Mabe and Rev. Roy Frank officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am Monday at the church just prior to the service and other times at the home.
Ruth was born August 15, 1927 in Davidson County to Avery Martin Woodle and Della Creed Woodle and was known as the “Pie Lady” at the Lexington Farmer’s Market. She was a retired employee of Dixie Furniture. Preceding her in death was a son, Martin Essick and his wife, Mollie Essick, four brothers, Howard Woodle, Emmet Woodle, Roy Woodle, Carson Woodle, and two sisters, Mavolene Aldridge and Kate Gammon.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Tommy Link of the home; a son, Dempsey Essick and wife, Shelly of Lexington; a daughter, Gail Hubbard of Charlottesville, Va. and husband, Richard Hammond; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and one sister, Virgina Ross of Mebane, NC.
