Ruth Delores Parks

Ruth Parks, 83, of Woodlawn Street, died Monday, December 23 at Piedmont Crossing.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Miss Parks was born September 27, 1936 in Davidson County to Henry Grover Parks and Minnie Etta Young Parks. She was a graduate of the Women's College of North Carolina and completed her administration degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She spent her entire career in the Lexington City School System, first at Holt, Grimes and Cecil Schools and later as Principal of South Lexington Elementary. She retired from the School Administrative Office. She was a member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ and an avid Tar Heel fan. Her brothers, Reid Parks and Hoyle Parks, and her sister, Mabel Lookabill, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Carla and Mike Carrick, Jeff and Vickie Lookabill, Roger and Linda Lookabill, Will and Joanie Parks, David and Melody Parks, Kathy Lookabill and the late Reid Lookabill; and many beloved great nieces and nephews.
