Ruth Edna Essick Sink, 87, of Michael Drive, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, at her home.
The funeral will be at 4:00 PM Wednesday at Bethesda United Methodist Church by the Rev. Doug Hochmuth. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Sink was born in Davidson County, on March 14, 1921, to Fred Lee Essick and Zella Hinkle Essick. She was a member of Women’s Society and Suzanne Wesley Sunday school class. Mrs. Sink was very active in sending cards and being aware of birthdays and also people’s health in her church and community even though she had been homebound for five years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, A.N. Sink Jr. who died in 2001; a son, Jacob Franklin Sink; and three brothers, Holland, Colin and Ellis Essick.
Surviving are a son, Ken Sink and wife, Ann, of Welcome; daughters, Carolyn Berrier and husband, Charles, and Lorene Sink, all of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Jeffery Berrier and wife, Renee’, Janet Brooks and husband, Ben, Julie Berrier, Sherry Wafford and husband, Todd, all of Lexington, Kevin Sink and wife, Susan, of Raleigh, and Keith Sink and fiancé, Felicia, of Charlotte; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Nelson Essick and wife, Theola, and Casper Essick and wife, Becky, all of Lexington; and four sisters, Willie Medlin, Devera Everhart, Alma Craver, all of Lexington, and Peggy Griffie of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Lorene, on Hedrick Circle.
