Ruth Hylton Thomas

Ruth Hylton Thomas, 59, of Gastonia, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Rev. Burton Robinson officiating.

A private burial will follow the service at Lexington City Cemetery.

Ruth was born on October 18, 1965, in Davidson County, to the late Bernard Hylton Thomas and Martha Launius Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sally Thomas Michaelson.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church for many years and loved attending while she lived in Lexington. Ruth enjoyed spending summers when she was young at Camp Sky Ranch in Boone, where she would engage in outdoor activities and form lasting friendships. She also loved the Special Olympics and participated in sports and games. One of her favorite past times was swimming, whether it was at camp or playing in the waves at the beach.

Left to cherish her sweet memories are her sister, Margaret King; brother, Radford L. Thomas (Gina); nieces, Natalie King (Anthony Gerstenbacher), and Jill Michaelson; nephews, Tyler Thomas and Dennie Thomas; and great nieces and nephew, Adelaide, Cassidy, and Maxwell.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hinkle Hospice House for their wonderful care for Ruth.
