Ruth Black Walker Thomason, age 83 of Holly Grove Road, Lexington passed away Thursday. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday (11-30-2008) at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with Rev. Dr. Joe D. Coltrane officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship United Church of Christ.
Ruth was born in Davidson County October 21, 1925 to Mont Black and Nannie Everhart Black. She was a retired employee of Manhattan Shirt and PPG, a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Alexander Walker, second husband G.C. Thomason, Jr., sisters, Mamie and Arlene Grubb and brothers James and Homer Black.
Surviving are: two daughters, Lynne Byerly and husband Robert of Lexington and Cathy Anderson and husband Lee of Florida; one son, Jerry L. Walker and wife Trudy of Lexington, 6 grandchildren, Chris, Heather, Chad, Traci, Kristy and Jennifer and 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence and Lamont Black of Lexington; her faithful companion “Millie” and her special friend Bobbie.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington.
