Sally Robinson Herring

April 27, 1947 — May 8, 2006

Sally Robinson Herring, 59, of Eastwood Drive, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at her home after several years of declining health. A celebration of her life will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Jim McClure. Mrs. Herring was born April 27, 1947, in Newfane, Vt., to Travis Henry Robinson and Nora Boyd Robinson. She was a registered nurse and worked in Vermont hospitals, Lexington Memorial Hospital and several nursing homes in the Lexington area for 35 years. Sally loved to travel, camp in her motor home, cook with her grandchildren and be with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Robinson. Surviving are her husband, Roderick Leonard Herring Sr. of the home; a son, Roderick Leonard Herring Jr. and his wife, Viola, of Lexington; a daughter, Heather Herring Tucker and her husband, John, of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Taylor K. Tucker, Eliza M. Tucker, Rylea L.N. Tucker, Becky A. Herring, Brittany N. Johnson, Allen J. Johnson and Terry E. Johnson; five sisters, Betty Druke and her husband, Bernard, Irene Brooks, Mary Laitres and her husband, Leo, and Polly Casanova, all of Vermont, and Louise McGourty and her husband, Jack, of New Hampshire; a sister-in-law, Ida Wilson of New Hampshire; an aunt, Esther Robinson of Vermont; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Terry and Ann Owens and their children, Lee and Elizabeth of Welcome, and Cynthia and Rick Pierce and family. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration of life service at Davidson Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to come to the home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rev. Jim and Paula McClure Family Ministries, World Outreach Network, 4738 Peace Road, Trinity, NC 27370.
