Sally Mae Combs Thomason, age 83, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at Hinkle Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 7, 1942, in Granville County, NC, to the late Carl Combs and Thelma Roberson Combs. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William Combs and Thomas Combs.
On August 1, 1960, Sally married the love of her life, Johnny Ray Thomason. Together they shared 65 years of marriage filled with devotion, family, and faith. She was a proud and loving mother to Susan Bryant and husband Sammy, and Johnnie Musgrave and husband Barry. She dearly cherished her grandchildren, Nicholas Musgrave and wife Brooke and MacKenzie Bryant, and her great-grandchildren, Connor and Ellarie, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy.
Sally dedicated 48 years of her career to Lexington State Bank, where she served as a Commercial Loan Specialist. Her professionalism, warmth, and commitment left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. Beyond her career, she was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family.
She was a member of The Lexington OES Chapter 98, and New Friendship UCC in Holly Grove. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hinkle Hospice House for their compassionate care.
A service to celebrate Sally’s life will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 31, 2025, at New Friendship Church with Rev. Alex Nance officiating. Family will visit with friends and family one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the church.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love for her family, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.
