Rudolph Samuel “Sam” Gallimore, 84 of Kirkwood Ave, Lexington died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in WFBH-Lexington Medical Center after declining health for 2 years. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Doug McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, October 7, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home, and other times at the residence. Mr. Gallimore was born November 18, 1926 in Davidson County to Jessie Gallimore and Nancy Carrick Gallimore. He was retired from Byrd Motor Line and a member of Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church. Sam was a US Veteran having served in the Marines during WWII, and was a member of American Legion Post 8, Amvets and VFW Post 3074. Preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter, Rita Gallimore, a brother, Clyde Gallimore , two sisters, Vergie Rimer and Nora Smith. Surviving are his wife, Ruth B. Potts Gallimore of the home; a son, Richard Gallimore of the home; two daughters, Jona Maiorano and husband, Sal of Charlotte, Linda Putnam and husband, Curtis of Lexington; three grandchildren, Mark Putnam, Toni Cornelius, Ali Maiorano and seven great grandchildren.
