Sam Hampton

David “Sam” Hampton, age 74, of Lexington passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at home with family and friends by his side.   A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with Pastor J C Miles and David Hedrick officiating.   The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 23, at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and other times at 226 Lea Meadow Rd., Lexington, NC.   Mr. Hampton was born on April 20, 1943 in Davidson County to Harold Samuel Hampton and Eunice Weaver Hampton. He served in the Army Reserve, Lexington Police Department and retired from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department. He is preceded in death by his parents.   Surviving are his son, Tommy Hampton (Sandy), three daughters; Melissa Bell, Debbie Bailey (Gary) and Amy Wells (Shane) all of Lexington; nine Grandchildren and seven Great-Grandchildren.   Sam had many great friends, some like family. The Spears family (Tracy, Angela, Tyler, Brent and Tripp) were by his side and loved him like a father and grandfather.
