Sam Hedrick

“Sam” Leonard Young Hedrick, 73, of Mize Road, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Second Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Sosebee officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of his son, Thad. Mr. Hedrick was born January 31, 1943, in Davidson County to David R. Hedrick and Sylvia Leonard Hedrick. He was a self-employed brick mason, a member of Second Presbyterian Church and Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 239. He graduated from Central Davidson High School, taught Sunday school at the Brian Center for the residents and was an avid hunter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Rayvon Hedrick; and a sister, Laura “Lib” Brackett. Surviving are sons, Thad Hedrick and wife Wendy, Jody Hedrick and Sammy Hedrick, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Ethan Hedrick and Garrett Hedrick; brothers, David Hedrick and wife Shelby and Leon Hedrick, both of Lexington; and a sister, Loretta Owens and husband Tommy of Lexington.
