Mr. Samuel Lee Sink, 88, a resident of Salem Street, died Sunday at the Hinkle Hospice House after declining health.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 11 at First Baptist Church, by the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell, III and Rev. Tommy Wilson. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.
Mr. Sink was born August 2, 1921 in Davidson County to Wilbur Lee and Lillian Yarbrough Sink. During World War II, Mr. Sink contributed to the war effort by working for Martin Marietta Aircraft in Baltimore MD. He retired from M & L Motors after 25 years of service. He was a member and former Deacon of First Baptist Church and a former member of the Lexington Civitan Club. His wife, Marietta Smith Sink, preceded him in death on December 5, 2005, as well as his brother, Bruce Sink, and his sisters, Elizabeth Jackson, Virginia Ratcliff, and Hilda Sink.
He is survived by his son, Ron Sink, and wife, Sylvia, of Lexington, his daughters, Cheryl Smith and husband, Bobby, and Pam Eller, and husband, Tom, both of Lexington; his brother, Bryce Sink, and wife, Barbara of High Point, his grandchildren, Britt Smith, and wife, Amy, of Lexington, Michele Shoaf and husband, Benji of Lexington, Angie Joyner, and husband, Danny, of Clemmons, Kim Odum and husband, Berry, of Lexington, Shannon Grubb and husband, Charlie, of Winston Salem, Daniel Eller, and wife, Jenny, of Chapel Hill and Drew Eller, and friend, Mary Catherine Ferree, both of Durham, and his great grandchildren, Dylan Joyner, Caleb Joyner, Kaleigh Odum, Sam Odum, Kinsley Odum, Cassidy Grubb, Ashlyn Grubb, Spencer Shoaf, Carson Shoaf and Luke Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Pam Eller, 169 Iroquois Trail, Lexington.
