Sammy L. Welch

Sammy L. Welch, 76, of Lexington departed this life and entered into the joy of the Lord on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at Davidson Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Sammy was born in Davidson County, April 8,1948 to Raymond W. Welch & Blanche C. Welch. Early in life Sam enjoyed hunting, competitive bowling and softball with his brother, brother- in- law and friends.

Sammy was a loyal employee of Mallory Battery, where he developed many friendships over his 32+  years.  He was also a devoted caregiver to his mother Blanche for many years.  Following retirement Sammy enjoyed spending his mornings meeting up with his friends at Southern Lunch among other places.

Sammy’s joys in life included his horses (Dungee, Sugarfoot & Lucky), riding in local wagon trains, spending long weekends in Love Valley (where he owned property), spending time with other horse friends and being with family.

Sammy was predeceased by his parents, Raymond W. Welch & Blanche C. Welch.  He will be deeply missed by his surviving family, brother, Jerry Welch (Ronda) of Lexington, sister, Grecia Welch Sanniota (Vic) of High Point, 6 nieces and nephews and 11grand nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank the staff at Davidson Healthcare & Rehab Center for the care they have provided Sammy over the last months.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 22nd at 2:00pm at Davidson Funeral Home – 301 N. Main St., Lexington NC.  Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30pm prior to the funeral. The funeral will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome
