Samuel “Bert” Burton Clapp, Jr. of Clapp Farm Road, age 91 passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010, at his home with his Jack Russell and constant companion Jodi at his side. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 3:00 to 4:30 PM at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel followed by a memorial service with Rev. Roger Kimble officiating.
Mr. Clapp was born in Guilford County on October 15, 1919, to Samuel Burton Clapp, Sr. and Harriett Summers Clapp. He was in sales and marketing with R. H. Barringer Dist. Company. Preceding him in death are his parents and his wife Margaret Wooten Clapp. He served in the US Army 15th Infantry during World War II.
Surviving are his daughter; Dana Meads of the home, one sister; Nan Steele of MD.;
two grandchildren, Ashlyn Meads Staley and husband Ben of Naples Italy, and Jordan Everett Meads of the home; one great-grandchild Rylan Blair Staley.
A deep gratitude goes out to the very special care givers who became family. Terry Jones and Doris Haywood shared love, laughter plus prayers and were truly a blessing to all who met them.
