Samuel Allen Nifong

Sep 10, 1979 — Sep 6, 2026

Lexington, North Carolina

Samuel "Sam" Allen Nifong, 46, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born on September 10, 1979, in Forsyth County, Sam was the beloved son of Randy and Karen Haneline Nifong.

A trusted handyman, Sam was known for his skilled hands, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need. He lived his life with a heart for community and faith, serving dedicated years as a Scout Master to guide and mentor youth, as well as serving as a church trustee.

Outside of his service to others, Sam found his greatest joy outdoors and with those he loved. Whether mountain biking, sitting around a crackling campfire, going on camping trips, or simply spending quality time with his family, he cherished every moment.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Dara Kirk Nifong; his children, Kyle Nifong and Sara Nifong; his loving parents, Randy and Karen Nifong; his brother, Jarret Nifong (Jessica); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Douglas and Donna Kirk; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brian and Deanna Fuertes, and John and Jayme Kirk; a niece; a host of beloved nephews; and his loyal fur baby, Ellie Mae.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to support future youth leaders through the Samuel A. Nifong Leadership and Service Scholarship Foundation, 9795 Old U.S. Hwy. 52, Lexington, NC 27295, or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

A memorial service will be held on Friday September 11, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Midway Church in Lexington with Rev. Craig Barnhill officiating.  Visitation will be held after the service at the Christian Fellowship Center.
