Samuel Henry Simmerson

Samuel Henry Simmerson, 81 of North NC Hwy 150, Lexington died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in Hinkle Hospices House. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Chaplain Misty York officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter, Linda Perryman. Mr. Simmerson was born June 6, 1930 in Davidson County to Robert Lee Simmerson and Bertha Lee Owens Simmerson. He retired from Proctor Schwartz and later Davidson County Sanitation. A member of Churchland Baptist Church, he was a US Marine Corp Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Preceding him in death was his parents, his wife, Lillian Phillips Simmerson, a son, Jimmy “Fuzzy” Phillips, a grandson, Sean Simmerson, a step-father, Grover Barnes; son-in-law, Eugene Perryman and a brother, Lee Simmerson. Surviving are a son, David Simmerson of Pfafftown; two daughters, Tina Johnson of Lexington, Linda Perryman of Reeds; three grandchildren, Carla, Daniel, Wesley; two sisters, Reba Craven and Maxine Lacourse both of Lexington. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292
