Sandra Johnson

Sandra Freeman Johnson, age 75, is now “absent from the body and present with the Lord.”

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, March 2, 2023, in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Titus officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Grace Alliance Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Sandra was born on August 17, 1947, in Davidson County to Lewis S. and Rachel Nance Freeman. Sandra worked many years with Mallory Battery, Co. before becoming receptionist for LC Harpe, Optometrist, then receptionist for Dr. Thomas Handy, Orthodontist, and substituted for the Davidson County School System. Later Sandra joined her husband at the Bible Broadcasting Network in Charlotte, NC where they travelled as Public Relations Representatives ministering across the states. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Clay Johnson; her brother, David E. Freeman; and a nephew, Thomas C. Freeman, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 56 years, the Rev. Richard Johnson of the home; a son, Rick Johnson of Thomasville, NC; her daughter, Beth J. Stewart (John) of Linwood, NC; she was affectionately called Grammy by her precious grandchildren, Melia S. Tysinger (Lucas), Clay Walser (Felicia), Trevor Swicegood (Samantha), Meadow Stewart, Johna Stewart, Summer Canovai (Lance), and Matt Catlin; her great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Wyatt, Emberly, Declan, Koleson, Kaspen, Bella, and Zayn (who is on the way); her brothers, Steve Feeman (Shelby), Tom Freeman (Jane), and Dwight Freeman (Jan) of Lexington; a sister, Gwendy Hays of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Alliance Church at 1370 Arnold Road, Lexington, NC 27295, or to hospice of Davidson County, at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
