Mrs. Sara Leonard Beanblossom, 90, of Beech Retreat Drive, Lexington, passed away Friday, January 31, at High Point Medical Center after a brief illness.
Sara was born October 16, 1934 in Davidson County to R H Leonard and Myrl Ruark Leonard. She was a graduate of Ashemore Business School and retired from Stone Container where she was as an executive assistant. Sara was an active member of Holloways Baptist Church, where she served as pianist and organist for over twenty years.
Sara was especially fond of ministering to children and assisting with the various programs involving children and youth. She was an inspiration to her family and friends and lived every day of her life enjoying both sunrises and sunsets. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband Bob, coastal visits with her girlfriends, working around her property at High Rock Lake, and a cup of good coffee.
Sara was predeceased by her husband, Bob Beanblossom, as well as her brothers, R.H. Leonard, Jr., Marvin Leonard, Joe Miller, and her sisters, Rachel Tetter, Evelyn Eagle, Marsha Lemly and Betty Leonard.
Sara is survived by her son, Mark Beanblossom and wife, Ginger, of Memphis, TN, and her grandson, Mark Beanblossom, Jr, and wife, Janie, also of Memphis. She also leaves several nieces and nephews that she loved and cherished, as well as many special neighbors and friends, all of whom will miss her very much.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 8 at Holloways Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
