Sara Freshwater

Sara Sowers Freshwater, 87, of Greensboro, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lexington City Cemetery by the Rev. Doug Rowe. Inurnment will follow. Sara was born in Davidson County on Jan. 9, 1924, to Henry G. Sowers and Johanna Coley Sowers. Sara was a former employee of Wennoah Mills and later worked for Dixie Furniture. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Benjamin Newton Freshwater; and her sister, Iris Sowers Patterson. Sara is survived by one brother, Bill Sowers of Durham; three nieces, Kay Chandler and husband Curtis of Mebane, Jo Lawrence and husband Mike of Greensboro and Lynn Rowe and husband Doug of Lexington; and one nephew, Kent Sowers of Durham. Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Arrangements are by Davidson Funeral Home Lexington.
