Sara Laine Peden Miller

Sarah Peden Miller, age 79 of Sowers Place, Lexington passed away Thursday morning at home surrounded by family, after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 11, 2016 at First United Methodist Church with Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe officiating. Inurnment in the church Columbarium will be private. There will be no public visitation. Sarah was born in Butler County, KY on October 7, 1936 to David Smith Peden and Essie Dell Embry Peden. Sarah attended Gulf Park College for Women in Gulf Park, Mississippi where she studied music. She also attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. She served as a member of the chancel choir, hand bell choir and as a Lay Leader for First United Methodist Church. She was former President of the Lexington Women’s Club, and held several local and state office positions during her more than 45 years of service in NC and KY. She served as Guardian ad Litem for Davidson County and is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Griffin Miller, III, daughter, Sarah Katherine Miller and granddaughter, Lauren Miller Dobbins. Surviving are her daughters, Stephanie Miller Berrier (Mark) of Lexington, Heather Lea Miller Koonts (Matt) of Climax; sons, Daniel George Miller (Linda) and Michael Gavin Miller (Robin) all of Lexington; grandchildren, Kathryn Laine Berrier, Dalton Gray Miller, Audrey Claire Berrier and Nathanael Weldon Koonts; great-grandhcildren, Arabella Hayden Miller, Jonah Miller Dobbins and Spencer Colton Dobbins.
