Sara “Frankie” Duty Shoaf, 75, of Tyro Road, died Monday, June 20,2016, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Eddie Pless and Jeff Hoffner officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 24, and other times at the home. Mrs. Shoaf was born September 17, 1940, in Cleveland, Va., to Jesse Duty and Addie Mae Owens Duty. She was the secretary at NC Department of Transportation for 30 years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Shoaf loved quilting, crocheting, and anything sewing. She won several ribbons at the County Fair for her quilts and Roy’s Craft Fairs. She has traveled all over the USA and Canada. In addition to her parents she was preceded her in death by brothers, Eddie, John, and Robert Duty. Surviving are her loving husband, Donald Ray Shoaf of the home; son, D. Alan Shoaf and wife Loretta of Mt. Airy; daughter, Lisa Shoaf Thompson and husband Richard of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, Brett Thompson, Aaron Shoaf and Gracie Shoaf; brother, Ronald Duty and wife Dianne of Lebanon, VA.; sisters, Thelma Wilson and husband Kurt of Lebanon, VA., and Laury Ryburn and husband Sam Sr., of Abbingdon, VA; special friend, Julia Hopkins and her loved pet, Yo.
