Sara Jenkins Snider

February 4, 1918 — September 8, 2007

Sara Jenkins Snider, 89, a faithful servant of God, went to be with the Lord she loved on Saturday night, Sept. 8, 2007, from Lexington Health Care. She was formerly of Oakdale Road and Kidron Korner. A service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Frankie Matthews. Burial will follow at the Snider Family Cemetery in Churchland. Mrs. Snider was born Feb. 4, 1918, in York County, S.C., to Odis Garfield Jenkins and Martha Virginia Hendrix Jenkins. She was a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 55 years and was the church clerk for 35 years. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of PPG. She also owned and operated Sara's Beauty Shop. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C.H. "June" Snider in 1958; a daughter, Jacqueline Dennis; and four brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her son, Charles H. Snider III and his wife, Tamra, of Lexington; her daughter, Gwendolyn Lanning of Lexington; a special missionary son, Dr. Magdy Ghabbour and his wife, Elaine, of Oxford, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, Chuck, David, Andrew and Tim Snider, Billy and Tracey Dennis, Melissa Trogdon and June, Scott and Todd Coppley; 15 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, William Dennis of Lexington. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday and at other times at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292, and Baptist Equipping Nationals, 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
