Sarah Hames Coppley

Sarah Elizabeth Hames Hedrick Coppley, 95, of Hillside Drive, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Alston Brook Nursing Home.   The funeral will be 2:00 pm Monday, June 14, 2010, a First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Dr. Ray Howell III, Tommy Wilson and Dr. Mike Collier officiating. Burial will be  in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm in the church parlor prior to the service and other times at the home.   Mrs. Coppley was born June 24, 1914, in Rutherford County, to Robert Stedman Hames and Verdie Wilson Hames. She retired from Erlanger Mills and later from  Davidson County Community College . She was a member of Good News Sunday school class, Sr.Choir, and the Sr. Citizens group at her church. Mrs. Coppley also played the organ at North Lexington Baptist Church for 40 years. She was the first women president of The Lexington Civitan Tuesday night Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Mock Hedrick and Oscar Coppley; brothers, Robert S. Hames and Donald Hames; and a sister, Lutelle  Mathney.   Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Lynch and husband, David, of Lexington; sister, Carolyn H. Pendergrass of Catawba; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.   Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.
