Sarah Gatton Hudson, 85, of Fairview Drive, died Friday, January 04, 2013, at Piedmont Crossing. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Meadowview Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Chris Bitterman officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hudson was born June 15, 1927, in Rowan County, to William Grady Gatton and Maggie Mae Ennis Gatton. She was a graduate of Salisbury Business College and a self employed seamstress. Mrs. Hudson had also worked at Zimmerman Clothing Store and 24 years of service at Lexington Memorial Hospital prior to her retirement. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ivey Hudson, who died January 15, 2007; and a brother, Alfred Gatton. Surviving are son, John Hudson and wife, Patricia, of Thomasville; daughters, Pamela Workman and husband, Randy, Kathy Yarbrough and husband, Wesley, Leesa Everhart and husband, Randy, and Anita Hodge and husband, Mike, all of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Kelly Younger and husband, Todd, Jeromy Yarbrough, Michael Yarbrough and wife, Stacey, Caleb Yarbrough, Daniel Everhart, Adam Everhart and friend, Bill Falcon, Hannah Everhart Agee and husband, Robert, Emily Hodge Warnke and husband, Zach; granddaughter-in-law, Valerie Everhart; step-grandchildren, Anne Workman, Keith Workman and wife, Melissa, Sebastian Michael, and Chris Michael; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Atwood and husband, James, Sarah Lambert, William Lambert, Marie Yarbrough, Jill Yarbrough; step-great-grandchild, Anna Workman; and one great-great-grandchild, Hayden White; brothers, William Gatton Jr. of Cleveland, and Robert Gatton and wife, Becky, of Reidsville; and sisters, Ruby Wasson, Mary Howard, both of Statesville, and Peggy James and husband, Jimmy, of Salisbury. Memorials may be made to Meadowview Presbyterian Church, One Grace Way Drive, Lexington, NC 27295.
