Sarah Jane Ward Decker

Sarah Jane Ward Decker, 94, of Lexington, went to her heavenly home on February 22, 2025 at Hinkle Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church with Pastor Zachary Hall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

Jane was born on September 19, 1930 in Davidson County, NC to the late Grady Jennings Ward and Vaudie Moore Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Everette Decker; son, Ronnie Decker; daughter, Phyllis Grubb; and two brothers, Charles Fisher Ward and Terry Ward.

Jane was a faithful and life-long member of Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing and doing hand embroidery. She also loved to spend time outside gardening flowers. Most of all, she dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Donnie (Robin) Decker; grandchildren, Matthew (Christina) Decker, Julie (John) Morrow, and Jennifer Ashby; 5 great-grandchildren, brother, Benny (Vivian) Ward; sisters, Peggy May, Doris Everhart, and Polly Nancy, and numerous other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
